Frequently Asked Questions

Simple and quick answers about how NCCI works, what it covers and what it does not do.

Business Verification Inspections

Can a business verification inspection detect fraud?

Yes, it documents facts such as a vacant storefront, a different business at the address or missing equipment. Those facts help clients decide whether to investigate.

Is the visit announced?

Unannounced visits run during normal business hours show how the business operates on a normal day. Appointments are available when the client prefers.

Collateral Inspections

What is a dealer lot audit?

A professional representative visits a dealer or buy-here-pay-here lot and checks the units on the client's list, photographing each and reporting any that are missing.

Can you inspect equipment as well as vehicles?

Yes. Professional representatives record serial numbers, location and condition for equipment of many types.

What if the collateral is not at the address?

The Collateral Inspection Report records that, with photos of the location and any information obtained. The client decides next steps.

SBA and Small-Business Site Visits

Do you cover all states?

Yes, all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

Medical Provider Site Visits

Why do Medicaid providers get site visits?

Federal Medicaid screening rules require site visits for providers categorized as moderate or high risk, before and after enrollment.

Can you handle many states at once?

Yes. Medical Site Visits are routed by geography across all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

Provider Directory Verification

What are ghost networks?

Directories that list providers who are unavailable, not at the listed address or not accepting patients. Provider Directory Verification checks the physical location.

What do visits typically find?

Closed locations, wrong addresses, inactive practices, and data that do not match.

Can this be done on a recurring schedule?

Yes. Plans can order periodically or request rolling verification.

Virtual Loss Draft and Repair Inspections

How many inspections does a claim need?

It depends on the claim and the client's draw schedule. Larger repairs often need several inspections to ensure completion.

Can the owner or contractor simply submit photos remotely?

No. A professional representative captures photos virtually, in real-time, guiding the owner or contractor through the inspection on their phone.

Occupancy and Property Condition Reports

How is occupancy determined?

By observation and, where allowed, conversation: lights, vehicles, mail, visible utilities, and statements from the occupant or neighbors.

Is this the same as an appraisal?

No. A condition report documents what is visible. It is not a valuation.

In-Person Customer Outreach

Is in-person outreach compliant?

NCCI is licensed where it operates, follows client-approved messaging, and documents every visit. Clients set the rules for their own program within the parameters of applicable laws and regulations.

What happens when no one is home?

The professional representative follows the client's direction (i.e., leaves the approved notice or letter in a personal and confidential envelope) and records the visit.

Mobile Notary Services

Can the notary also deliver or collect documents?

Yes, as part of a visit when the client requests it.

Virtual Inspections (eVerify)

When is a virtual inspection a good fit?

For lower-risk checks of routine collateral, business site confirmations, remote workplace audits, and status of repair confirmations.

Is the location verified?

Yes. GPS location, date and time are recorded from the customer's device at the time of the inspection.

Can NCCI support a prime contractor?

Yes. NCCI can serve as a subcontractor that provides nationwide capacity and coverage, and also provide consistent and informative reporting.

What programs do these visits support?

Examples include provider enrollment and revalidation, and retailer or business verification.

Valuations and AVM
